Westringia Deep Purple

Westringia Deep Purple is a selected form of Westringia Wild River, with lush green leaves and deep, rich purple flowers that occur throughout the year. It is a small shrub that grows between 0.5 metres and 1 metre high and 0.5 metres and 1 metre wide in full sun to part shade. It is an extremely hardy plant that is frost and drought tolerant once established and is suitable to most climates.

Deep Purple is adapted well to most well drained soils and requires only a light tip prune occasionally to promote new growth and form a more compact plant. Deep Purple benefits from a slow release, low phosphorus fertiliser when planted initially, with occasional reapplication as appropriate. Mulching around the base of the plant will suppress weeds and help retain moisture in the soil.

Deep Purple is very versatile in its uses. Its small size makes it perfect for situations where height restrictions limit plant selection. It can be mass planted and shaped to form a low level hedge that stays lush green all year round or used as an excellent specimen plant. Deep Purple is superb for garden borders or as a pot plant or rockery plant. It is the perfect plant for any low level planting, both informal and formal and for small gardens or large-scale landscapes.
